John R. Cash

John R. Cash was born on February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas, USA to Ray Cash and Carrie Rivers.

He lived a simple life, and they did not have a lot of luxury back then, but they did have a radio, where he first listened to the music that influenced him throughout his entire life.

Just like Elvis, Cash was stationed in Germany during his time in the service, where he bought his first guitar, and also made some early recordings, including a recording on an acetate disc for his girlfriend Vivian.

In his prime-time as a recording and touring artist, he often used drugs, and even intended to go into the Nickajack Cave to kill himself at some point, but a spiritual experience as well as a loving woman (June Carter Cash, his second wife) helped him to get through the rough times.

Cash also played in several movies, as well as in the TV series Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and Renegade.

Johnny Cash played his last concert on July 5, 2003, a little over 2 months before his death.

Johnny Cash died on September 12, 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Throughout his lifetime he recorded over 1500 songs, had his own TV show from 1969-1971 and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (1977), The Country Music Hall of Fame (1980), The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1992) and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame (2011).
